2.What data do we collect and on what legal basis?
2.1Contact form
On the genealogus.hr website there is a contact form through which you can reach us. When submitting an inquiry, we collect:
- ·name and surname
- ·email address
- ·telephone number (if you provide it)
- ·the content of your message, including any data you voluntarily mention in it
Legal basis: taking steps at your request prior to concluding a contract and our legitimate interest in responding to the inquiry you sent us (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) of the General Data Protection Regulation).
Filling out the form is voluntary, but without basic data (name and contact) we will not be able to respond to your inquiry.
2.2Communication by email, telephone and social media
If you contact us directly by email, telephone or a message on social media, we process the data you provide us with (name, contact details and content of communication). We do not record telephone conversations.
2.3Data necessary for creating a genealogy
If you conclude a contract with us for the creation of a family tree or genealogical research, we process the data you provide in order to carry out the research, for example:
- ·names, surnames, dates and places of birth, marriage and death
- ·data on places of residence and migrations
- ·copies of documents, photographs and family records you provide yourself
- ·data necessary for issuing invoices and delivering the completed genealogy (address, OIB where applicable)
Legal basis: performance of a contract to which you are a party, and for invoice data and the fulfilment of our legal obligations (accounting and tax regulations).
2.4Data about other persons you provide to us
The nature of genealogical research is such that, alongside your own data, you also provide us with data about other persons - your ancestors and, as a rule, about living family members.
Data about deceased persons are not considered personal data under the General Data Protection Regulation. For data about living persons, you as the client are responsible: by providing such data you confirm that you have a valid basis for sharing it with us and that you have, where required, informed those persons about the research. At your request or at the request of those persons, we will remove their data from the research or present it in anonymized form (for example only with initials or year of birth).
2.5Special categories of data
Genealogical research is regularly carried out by inspecting registers of births, marriages and deaths kept by parish offices and state archives. From such documents, information about the religious affiliation or ethnic origin of your ancestors may emerge, which is considered a special category of data.
We process such data only to the extent necessary to carry out the research you have commissioned, and on the basis of your explicit consent, which you may withdraw at any time. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing prior to withdrawal, but it may mean that we will not be able to complete the research.
2.6Automatically collected technical data
When visiting the website, the server automatically records technical data such as IP address, browser type and version, operating system, date and time of access, and the pages you visited. This data is used for security, stability and basic visit statistics.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in the secure and correct functioning of the website.
3.For what purposes do we process your data?
We process your personal data for the purpose of:
- ·responding to your inquiries and preparing a quote
- ·concluding and executing a contract for genealogical research and the creation of a family tree
- ·communicating with you during the research
- ·issuing invoices and fulfilling accounting and tax obligations
